Import and export reached more than 300 billion USD, trade surplus increased by nearly 3 billion USD

Following the momentum of prosperity in July, the first half of August, the country's import and export activities continued to achieve impressive results, especially, the trade surplus since the beginning of the year was raised to nearly 3 billion USD.​

The preliminary statistics have been released by the General Department of Customs in the afternoon of August 20, showing that the first 15 days of August, the total export turnover of the whole country reached 11.947 billion USD.
Thereby, increasing the total export turnover of Vietnam from the beginning of the year to August 15 to 157,351 billion USD, increasing by 8.4% compared to the same period in 2018.
In the first 15 days of this month, there were 3 groups of export goods with turnover of USD 1 billion or more, including: Phones and accessories reached USD 2.85 billion; computers, electronic products and components reached 1.65 billion USD; textile reached 1.5 billion USD.
As of August 15, the three above groups continue to lead in turnover with the results of USD 30.33 billion, USD 20.2 billion and USD 19.9 billion respectively.
Accumulated from the beginning of the year to August 15, the total import turnover of Vietnam reached 154.416 billion USD, up by 8.1% compared to the same period last year. In the import direction, the first 15 days of the month, the national turnover reached 10.754 billion USD.
2 groups of imports "billion USD" in the first half of August are computers, electronic products and components; machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts.
In particular, computers, electronic products and components reached 2.5 billion USD, increasing the turnover from the beginning of the year to over 31 billion USD and being the largest import group of the country.
Meanwhile, machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 1.53 billion USD and 22.3 billion USD respectively.
Thus, from the beginning of the year to August 15, the scale of import and export turnover of Vietnam reached about 311 billion USD, of which our country exported nearly 3 billion USD.
