Persons who have a chief engine of a ship of under 75 kW and who have worked for the title of ship captain for 6 months or more may change to a chief engineer of a third-class ship.
According to the Vietnam Inland Waterway Administration, the above regulation is to create favorable conditions for seafarers, shipping enterprises, especially in the field of sea-river transport (VR-SB). Because according to the current regulations, the person with a captain's license, the chief engineer of the ship wants to control the means to go to the coastal level of VR-SB still has to have a captain's license, a waterway chief. At the same time, the person who has the vocational trainer's qualifications can also take the exam to get the waterway chief engine of the respective classes without further study.
